Victor Gawriljuk Ferraro Oliveira
Victor Gawriljuk Ferraro Oliveira obtained his Bachelor and Masters degree in Physics and Biomolecular Sciences at the University of São Paulo in 2021, he then started his PhD at the University of Groningen under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Matthew Groves. Since his Masters Victor’s research had been mainly focused on the structural biology and drug discovery for different infectious diseases. Now as a post-doc at the Rafie Lab he is currently working with the structural and functional characterization of different adenovirus targets.

Ana Laura Manzano Covarrubias
My name is Ana Laura. I am from Mexico, where I did my bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry at the Universidad de las Américas Puebla (UDLAP). After completing my bachelor studies, I did my master degree in Molecular Medicine at the University of Sheffield in the UK. In 2022 I joined the Department of Molecular Pharmacology as a PhD candidate, focusing my research on understanding the molecular mechanisms of respiratory viruses and air pollution on the lung epithelium.
Qiwen Tang
Qiwen Tang is a PhD student in the Department of Molecular Pharmacology at the University of Groningen. She is from China and obtained her master’s degree in Clinical Medicine (Neurology) from Zhejiang University, School of Medicine, China. Her PhD projects focus on the impact of environmental factors on Parkinson’s disease.

My name is Alessandra Tosato and I come from Turin, Italy. I obtained my Bachelor’s degree in Biotechnology in Italy, and now I am in my second year of the Master’s degree in Medical Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Groningen, the Netherlands.
I am working under the supervision of Karim for the second research project of the Master’s which focusses on investigating the double hit of Diesel Exhaust Particles and Human Adenovirus type C5 on adenocarcinomic human alveolar basal epithelial cells (A549).
